Building a Global Movement of Climate Conscious Creatives
I discovered Creatives for Climate somewhere along my journey from agency professional, to social impact marketer, to planet conscious creative: often bumpy, always revealing, but so very rewarding. Sustainability and climate change are vast, overwhelming and existential topics; I had no idea how to apply my work to saving the place we call home, but I knew I had to try.
Luckily, I found answers, inspiration and a supportive community in Creatives for Climate - a quickly growing, global network of thousands of comms professionals radically collaborating, re-skilling and taking creative action for the planet.
C4C’s goal? Citizen and cross-sector divestment from fossil fuels through influencing and arming the storytellers of our world with the tools to end greenwashing and drive change, from the ground-up. A chance encounter with the amazing initiator, Lucy von Sturmer, quickly developed into a partnership. Initially a consulting role, now a voluntary Strategic Advisor position, it has been a joy and total passion project of mine to steer and support on:
Partnerships and sales: identifying valuable opportunities, tactics for streamlining with limited resource and developing strategies to effectively deliver on key relationships
Comms: messaging sensitive topics to appeal to both activists and the ‘climate curious’
Brand and marketing: including day-to-day brand management (when/where/how to show up, and when not to) and an overhaul of their visual identity to engage a professional audience
Theory of change and funding application ideation and support
Business strategy: assisting where I can to help navigate the very real and conflicting challenges of scaling and resourcing in a fledgling non-profit
